Beginning April 19th, 2006 - Except for the 4, 8, 12, 22 days we allowed ourselves, we pledged not to drink until the 2006 World Cup.
4 days was the original pledge. For some it worked great but for others it was generally ignored and quickly forgotten. Say what you will about discipline, but the teetotalling pledge did save us money while losing us pounds.
